Cap de Formentor

The end of the Serra: a narrow peninsula of cliffs reaching twenty kilometres into the sea and finishing at a lighthouse. The road hangs off the edge, and the Es Colomer viewpoint is one of those places where people fall quiet.

Practical information

Access
From Port de Pollença. In the busiest months, private vehicles are restricted on the peninsula by traffic order and a TIB shuttle runs from Port de Pollença and Alcúdia, stopping at the viewpoint, the coves and the lighthouse. Dates and times are set each season: check them before you go.
Best time
Outside high season, and early in the day. In a strong tramuntana the cape is another thing altogether: check the forecast first.
