In Mallorca, golf is a serious business: the Govern counts 22 courses playable all year round, from the courses on the outskirts of Palma to the one beside the Alcanada lighthouse, in the bay of Alcúdia. For anyone travelling with clubs, that’s both a stroke of luck and a logistics problem: the courses are scattered across the whole island, and the difference between a good golf trip and a tiring one usually comes down to where you sleep and how you get around.

This guide sorts Mallorca’s courses by zone and by distance from Palma Airport, with what sets each apart, what it costs to play and how to get to each one with your bag. Everything verified as of September 2026 on the websites of the courses and of the Balearic Golf Federation.

The essentials

  • How many: 19 18-hole courses open to visitors, plus Golf Pollença (9 holes) and the Palma Pitch & Putt. Santa Ponsa II and III are members-only.
  • Two zones: the courses around Palma, 12-25 km from the airport; those in the north and east, 55-75 km away, between 50 and 75 minutes.
  • Day licence: several courses charge €3 per person per day to players without an RFEG licence.
  • Season: the Govern recommends October to May; the courses open all year round.
  • With the bag: almost no course has a bus that’s practical. A car or a booked transfer with room for bags.

The rule for a golf trip in Mallorca

There are two ways to play Mallorca, and it’s worth choosing before you book a hotel.

From Palma, with a single base, you can play around a dozen courses without changing rooms: all of them are under half an hour from the airport and the city. It’s the comfortable trip, the one where it’s ‘a different course every morning and dinner in the old town’.

Around the island, the courses in the north and east — Alcanada, Pula, Capdepera, Canyamel — are a good hour from the airport. They’re worth the trip, but call for sleeping nearby or booking longer transfers. Mixing the two zones in the same day is the recipe for spending more time in the car than on the fairway.

Palma and around: golf twenty minutes from the plane

Son Gual, on the Manacor road, is the closest to the airport: about 12 km. It’s a private 18-hole, par-72 club spread across 156 hectares of Mediterranean landscape, and one of the few that publishes its seasonal rate: €165 for 18 holes from 15 September to 14 November 2026 and €115 from 15 November to 24 December.

Arabella Golf Mallorca brings together, on the outskirts of Palma, three courses and a pitch & putt, about 18-19 km from the airport. Son Vida, from 1964, is according to Arabella the oldest course on the island still in play, and hosted the European Tour in 1990 and 1994. Son Muntaner (2000) and Son Quint (2007), the latter with views of Palma from holes 8 and 17, complete the set. Arabella offers free transport between its four courses and publishes clear rules: a maximum handicap of 54 at Son Vida and Son Quint and of 36 at Son Muntaner, and golf attire, no jeans or tracksuits.

T Golf Palma, the former Golf Park Puntiró, plays among pines, wild olives and carob trees, respecting the original topography. To the south, in Llucmajor, Son Antem has two courses, East (1994) and West (2001, with three lakes in play), and Golf Maioris, which according to the Govern is 15 minutes from the airport, boasts two island greens and some of the widest fairways in Mallorca.

Towards the west, Real Golf de Bendinat, in Calvià, looks out over the bay of Palma and Cabrera from a wooded valley. Son Termes, in Bunyola, already inside the Serra de Tramuntana, publishes €110 for 18 holes in high season (March to May and September to November) and €90 in low season.

The west: Calvià and Andratx

A little further away, 30-40 minutes from the airport, are the courses of the south-west. T Golf Calvià, the former Poniente, by John Harris, from 1978, plays among fifteen lakes and pines. Golf Santa Ponsa I, six-time host of the European Tour, has on its 10th hole a 590-metre par 5. And Golf de Andratx, in Camp de Mar, is a mountain course whose 6th hole, a 609-metre par 5, is according to the club the longest in Spain.

The north and east: the courses worth sleeping near

Club de Golf Alcanada, in Alcúdia, has the most recognisable landscape of them all: designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 2003, it bills itself as Mallorca’s only seaside course, with the Alcanada lighthouse in view from almost every hole. It’s an hour from the airport. Very close by, Golf Pollença offers 9 holes among olive trees, with views of the Serra and the bay.

In the east, Pula Golf, in Son Servera, sits on a historic 1581 estate with its own hotel and a course redesigned by José María Olazábal. Next door, Club de Golf Son Servera, founded in 1967, plays among holm oaks, pines and olive trees with views of the Mediterranean. Further north, Capdepera Golf (Dan Maples, 1989) climbs the slope of the Serra d’Artà with six lakes, and Canyamel Golf (Pepe Gancedo, 1988) gives a view of the sea towards Menorca from the 4th hole. All of them are 65-75 minutes from the airport.

In the south-east, Vall d’Or Golf, between Cala d’Or and Portocolom, an hour away, drops through its back nine towards the coast among pines, almonds and olives, and publishes €132 for 18 holes in high season and €99 in low season.

What it costs, and the day licence

Mallorca’s green fees change by season and some courses apply dynamic pricing, so it’s sensible to check the course’s rate when you book. As a reference, the three that publish their rate with 2026 dates: Son Gual, €165 for 18 holes in autumn; Vall d’Or, €132 in high season; Son Termes, €110 in high season.

Several courses also charge a daily golf licence of €3 per person per day to players without a licence from the Royal Spanish Golf Federation: Arabella, both T Golf courses and Alcanada apply it. It’s not an island-wide rule but a course-by-course one; if you play with a licence from another country, ask when you book.

When to play

The Govern recommends golf in Mallorca from October to May, and the numbers back it up: according to AEMET’s long-term averages at Palma Airport, maximum temperatures average 19.8°C in April, 23.7°C in May and 23.9°C in October, against 31.2°C in July. It’s also the quiet Mallorca, the one on the calendar we cover in Mallorca from October to June.

How to get around with your golf bag

  • Bus. We haven’t been able to confirm any line with a useful stop at a course, and with a golf bag, changing buses isn’t an option.
  • Taxi. Metered, with the official Mallorca fare (€2.50 flag-drop fee, €1.20/km by day and a €4.65 airport surcharge); ask for a vehicle with room for the bags.
  • Hire car. Practical if you’re combining several zones; choose the boot with the bags in mind.
  • Booked transfer. From the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the course, in a vehicle chosen for the luggage. For a group of golfers, a minibus takes everyone in one trip, and booking ahead in golf season avoids surprises.

Before you fly, book your bag with the airline as sports or special luggage, with its weight limit (between 20 and 32 kg depending on the carrier). If you’re heading to the hotel first when you land, every airport option is covered in from Palma Airport to your hotel.

Where to stay to play

Several courses have grand-luxury hotels right beside them: Arabella, in Son Vida, with the Castillo Hotel Son Vida, the Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel and The St. Regis Mardavall as associated hotels; Golf de Andratx, next to the Zafiro Palace Andratx; Pula, with its own hotel on the estate; Son Antem, inside the Marriott’s Club Son Antem. Depending on who you are

  • You’re travelling as a couple and want to play four or five courses: base yourself in Palma, a different course each morning, and a booked transfer for the day you head to Alcanada.
  • You’re a group of golfers: a minibus with room for the bags from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to each course; it’s the difference between an organised trip and four taxis.
  • You only want to play Alcanada or the east: sleep in the north or the east; save the long transfer for arrival and departure days only.

Our take

Mallorca has enough golf for a week without repeating a course, but the good trip isn’t the one that stacks up the most rounds: it’s the one that doesn’t spend the morning on the road. Choose the zone first, then the hotel and, last, the courses; book the bag with the airline and the transfer before you land. In October, with the bay calm and the light low over the fairways, the island does the rest.
