Cove · North (Es Mercadal)

Cala Pregonda

One of the north coast's most iconic coves: reddish sand, islets just offshore and an almost lunar feel. It has no beach bar and no toilets, and that is precisely its charm.

What to see and do

  • the reddish sand and the islets of one of the north's most iconic coves
  • walking around 35 min along the Camí de Cavalls from Binimel·là
  • choosing a day with little north wind; no beach bar

Practical information

Access
On foot, about 35 min from the Binimel·là car park
Parking
It has no car park of its own: you leave the car at Binimel·là and walk for about 35 minutes. That car park is capacity-controlled (2026 season) and closes when full, so the space you need is not Pregonda's but Binimel·là's, and it serves two beaches at once. There is no point looking for a spot nearby: the lanes are narrow and parking on them is not allowed.
Services
No beach bar, toilets or showers; a lifeguard in season. Bring water, food and shade
Best time
May, June and September. In August, first thing: if Binimel·là is already closed, Pregonda stops being an option for that day. In season, the Consell controls the Binimel·là car park; the service contract runs until 15 October.
Opening hours
June or September; in July/August the Binimel·là car park fills up early. Best with little northerly wind.
Effort
No road access to the cove: ~35 min walk (2 km) along the Camí de Cavalls from the Binimel·là car park. No beach bar or toilets; sturdy footwear, water and shade are essential.
Suggested time
~4 h
