Cove · South-west (Ciutadella)

Son Saura del Sur

Two broad semicircles of fine sand, Bellavista and Des Banyuls, separated by a headland, backed by pine wood and lapped by shallow water. Roomier than its neighbouring coves and ideal for families; in summer it fills with anchored boats.

What to see and do

  • two broad stretches of sand (Bellavista and des Banyuls) separated by a point
  • more space and shallower waters than the small coves, with pines behind
  • access on foot from the car park: bring a picnic, water and shade (no services)

Practical information

Access
Car + a walk
Parking
Capacity-controlled (2026 season): the car park closes once full, usually around 9am in July and August. It is one of the more forgiving coves in southern Ciutadella, and on some shoulder-season days it never fills at all. There is no point looking for a spot nearby: the lanes are narrow and parking on them is not allowed. Without a car (in 2026, until 15 October): the bus from Ciutadella runs Monday to Saturday at 11.15am, 1.15pm and 6.15pm, returning half an hour later.
Best time
Its car park fills later than Turqueta’s, so it gives you a good extra hour: up to 9am in high season. May, June and September give you far more room: in May the car parks do not fill up until 10 or 10.30am. In season, the Consell controls access to the car park, and the service contract runs until 15 October.
Effort
Tough: a long hike, no services
