Luxury on Fuerteventura does not take the shape of a palace. The island is built on space — beaches that run for miles, horizons with nothing in front of them — and what suits it best are the houses that do not compete with that: few rooms, service you notice without it calling attention to itself, a rooftop from which to watch the light fall on the Atlantic. This is not a catalogue. It is a short selection, by area, of places where silence is part of what you book.
First, a practical point: choose your side of the island before your hotel. The north (Corralejo, La Oliva) is 35-45 minutes from the airport and close to the dunes, El Cotillo and the ferry to Lanzarote. The south (Jandía, Morro Jable) is more than an hour away but has the longest beaches and the deepest calm. In between, Caleta de Fuste is almost next door to the airport.
The essentials
- North (Corralejo): 35-45 minutes from the airport, close to the dunes, El Cotillo and the Lanzarote ferry.
- Centre (Caleta de Fuste): almost next to the airport, with two golf courses close by.
- South (Jandía, Morro Jable): over an hour away, with the longest beaches.
- “Adults only”: the minimum age ranges from 13 to 18 depending on the house; ask.
- Holiday homes: must display their Registro General Turístico number.
North: Corralejo
Avanti Lifestyle Hotel
A small adults-only boutique hotel — around fifteen rooms — in Corralejo’s old town, facing the sea. Simple, white-toned rooms and a rooftop looking over the water. The choice for those who want to walk to dinner in town and come back to a quiet house.
H10 Ocean Dreams Boutique Hotel
An adults-only hotel in Corralejo, a short walk from the beach. Its reason for being is water: it has a thalassotherapy centre with a sauna, a steam room and treatment rooms. Larger than a typical boutique house, but designed for rest rather than entertainment.
Centre: Caleta de Fuste
Barceló Fuerteventura Royal Level – Adults Only
In Caleta de Fuste, a few minutes from the airport, the adults-only area (over-18s) of a larger seafront resort with a sizeable wellness centre. Useful for late arrivals or early departures, and for golfers: two courses are close by.
South: Jandía and Morro Jable
Saladar Suites Boutique
Seventeen apartment-suites in the El Matorral area, beside Morro Jable, with a pool and a roof terrace, close to Matorral beach. Small, quiet and geared to adults. A base for the long south of Jandía: endless beaches on the doorstep and, an unhurried day’s drive along the track, Cofete.
What to check with each house
- The minimum age. “Adults only” does not mean the same everywhere: depending on the property it may start at 13, 16 or 18. Ask before booking if you are travelling with teenagers.
- The wind. A beautiful terrace on an afternoon of strong trade winds is a different thing. Ask about sheltered spots.
- Access. If you are not hiring a car, check what is within walking distance: in the south, many places are a long way from everything.
A word on rentals
In the Canary Islands, holiday homes must be listed on the Registro General Turístico (the regional tourism register), and that number must appear in their advertising. If you rent a private house or flat, check that it shows one. This guide only covers hotels and licensed tourist establishments.
Our view
On an island where the landscape is the luxury, the best place to stay is the one that steps back. Choose a small scale, few rooms and a location that lets you walk to something — the sea, a village, a dinner. And decide on the side of the island before the hotel: on Fuerteventura, geography rules. For your arrival, from the airport to your hotel sorts the options by area.
