Sa Calobra and the Torrent de Pareis

Two rock walls closing over a tongue of pebbles: that is how Mallorca's most famous torrent meets the sea. You get there after fourteen kilometres of hairpins or, better, by boat from Port de Sóller. The mouth is a Natural Monument, and its acoustics have made the summer concerts famous.

Practical information

Access
Along the Ma-2141: fourteen kilometres of bends and nine hundred metres of descent, including the «nus de sa corbata», a full 360-degree turn. The calmer alternative is the boat from Port de Sóller. The mouth of the torrent is reached on foot, through tunnels cut into the rock.
Parking
Escorca's town council regulates parking by ordinance and the harbour area has licence-plate access control. Check before you drive down, or come by boat.
Services
The Torrent de Pareis is a declared Natural Monument with its own rules of use: check them before you go. Descending the torrent is mountaineering, not a stroll.
Best time
Spring and autumn, and early in the day. In summer, road and harbour fill up from mid-morning.
