17 October 2026 · Historic centre of Palma (from Plaça de l'Hospital to Plaça de Santa Magdalena), Palma
Since 1792, the year Santa Catalina Tomàs was beatified, Palma has brought out its triumphal float on the third Saturday of October. The historic 1868 float, restored by the Consell de Mallorca, moves through the streets with marching bands, xeremiers and the song “Sor Tomasseta” all the way to the Church of Santa Magdalena, where the saint's body is kept and the floral offering is made. In October 2025 the Consell declared the Beata festivities of Palma, Valldemossa and Santa Margalida part of Mallorca's intangible cultural heritage. An autumn date in the old town, far from the summer calendar.

Consell, one of the five municipalities of the DO Binissalem, holds its autumn fair in October: gastronomy, artisan products, culture and a wine fair. It's a quiet way to taste the region's wine in the village where it's made, sheltered by the Serra de Tramuntana. The Govern's official calendar of fairs places it on Sunday 18 October 2026; in recent years the programme has spread over several days around that Sunday, so it's worth checking the Ajuntament's own programme.

On the night of 24 December, during the Christmas matins, every parish in Mallorca sings the Sibil·la, a medieval chant announcing the Last Judgement, which UNESCO inscribed in 2010 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is sung a cappella by a boy or girl in a robe, who walks through the church holding a sword aloft among acolytes carrying candles, with an organ interlude between verses. At La Seu in Palma it is sung during the Christmas Eve matins, and also in the village churches.

On the eve, in the afternoon, wreaths are laid at the monument to Jaume I in Plaça d'Espanya. On the 31st, in Plaça de Cort, with the Ajuntament's façade draped in red, the royal standard and the Cimera are put in place while La Balanguera plays; a procession with cavallets, cossiers and the Cavallers de Sant Jordi goes to La Seu for Mass and, back in Cort, the standard is raised and La Colcada is recited.
