Valldemossa

Golden stone, narrow lanes and mountain silence a short drive from Palma. Valldemossa is a village to walk slowly, and it is at its best outside the middle of the day, once the coaches have gone and the place belongs to itself again. The Charterhouse keeps the cells where Chopin and George Sand spent a winter.

Practical information

Access
By road from Palma, or on the TIB's L203 bus, which links Palma and Port de Sóller via Valldemossa and Deià.
Parking
The old town is a restricted-traffic zone (ACIRE): only authorised vehicles may drive in. Parking inside the village is scarce and awkward, so it is better to leave the car at the entrance and walk up.
Services
Municipal tourist information office. The Charterhouse can be visited inside; the rest of the village, on foot.
Best time
Spring and autumn. Any time of day but the middle of it: early morning and late afternoon are when the village breathes.
