The Carro Triomfal de la Beata parades through Palma

Since 1792, the year Santa Catalina Tomàs was beatified, Palma has brought out its triumphal float on the third Saturday of October. The historic 1868 float, restored by the Consell de Mallorca, moves through the streets with marching bands, xeremiers and the song “Sor Tomasseta” all the way to the Church of Santa Magdalena, where the saint's body is kept and the floral offering is made. In October 2025 the Consell declared the Beata festivities of Palma, Valldemossa and Santa Margalida part of Mallorca's intangible cultural heritage. An autumn date in the old town, far from the summer calendar.

Getting there

Palma's centre is about 12 km from the airport (about 20 minutes by car with no traffic); EMT line A1 connects the airport with Plaça d'Espanya, a short walk from the route. The parade takes over streets in the centre: best to arrive on foot.
