The Davallament de Pollença, Good Friday at the Calvari

On Good Friday, at the top of the Calvari in Pollença, a carved figure of Christ is taken down from the cross and carried in procession down the stairway's 365 steps, between cypresses, to the Church of Mare de Déu dels Àngels. It all takes place in absolute silence, lit only by the torches of the confraternities. The Ajuntament de Pollença presents it as one of the most important events of Mallorca's Holy Week. In 2027 Good Friday falls on 26 March.
