Few places pack so much prehistory per square kilometre as Menorca. Its Talayotic culture —over three thousand years old— has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2023.

Three structures to understand

  • Navetes: funerary monuments shaped like an upturned boat. The Naveta des Tudons is the most famous.
  • Talaiots: stone towers that give the culture its name, likely for watching or gathering.
  • Taules: the most enigmatic — two great stones in a T shape, unique in the world and ritual in use.

How to visit

Many sites are open-air and free or inexpensive to enter. Going at sunset, with fewer people and better light, makes the visit memorable. This is the Menorca the quick guide never tells you about.
