12 September 2026 – 13 September 2026 · Es Mercadal y Monte Toro
The Sant Nicolau festivities in Es Mercadal close the island's patron-saint calendar — 'they lock the festival season'. They blend reveille, parade and flag offering with the horseback ascent to Monte Toro, where the riders' mass and the jaleo take place.

The island's annual film gathering, with a Mediterranean spirit and a strong social and environmental conscience, centred on national and international short films. In summer, Es Mercadal holds an agri-food and craft market on Thursday evenings (roughly 19:00 to 23:00), with over ninety stalls and live music. One of the most recommended night markets in the island's interior. Exact 2026 dates to be confirmed with Es Mercadal town council.

3 July 2026 – 11 October 2026 · Iglesias de Sant Lluís, Maó (Santa Maria y del Carme) y Santuari del Toro (Es Mercadal)
First edition of the festival promoted by the Fundació Sintes-Grollero and coordinated by organist Tomeu Olives, with eight concerts between 3 July and 11 October 2026. It tours the island's historic organs in Sant Lluís, Maó (Santa Maria, home to its 1810 Kyburz organ, and the del Carme church) and the Es Mercadal sanctuary of El Toro, with international performers.

2 April 2026 – 25 October 2026 · Cova d'en Xoroi, Cala en Porter (Alaior)
Live music and DJ sunset sessions at Cova d'en Xoroi, a natural cave carved into the cliffs of Cala en Porter with terraces stepping down over the sea. The music sunset sessions run through the summer season (roughly May to October); specific programme and artists to be confirmed on the official site.

21 June 2026 – 25 October 2026 · Hauser & Wirth Menorca, Illa del Rei (Maó harbour)
The group show coordinated by Rashid Johnson brings together more than twenty international artists — Charles Gaines, Firelei Báez and Cristina Iglesias among them — on the Illa del Rei, alongside the sculpture trail and Piet Oudolf's garden. Open until 25 October, when the gallery closes its season: one of the best art reasons for an October on the island. 6 July 2026 – 31 October 2026 · Iglesia de Santa Maria, Maó
A historic cycle of short daily concerts on the monumental organ of Santa Maria church in Maó, built by Swiss organbuilder Johann Kyburz in 1810: 15 metres tall, four keyboards and more than 3,000 pipes. They take place every day except Sundays at 11am, from May to October. Times indicative: confirm in season.

1 June 2026 – 31 October 2026 · Ciutadella (various meeting points)
Ciutadella's municipal tourism service shows off the town's identity unhurriedly and at no cost: a creative route among artisans, the coastline facing the sea, a starlit-sky night walk and local produce. The cycle runs June to October with several weekly routes; places are limited and require prior booking at ajciutadella.org, where each week's timetable is published.

17 September 2026 – 19 September 2026 · Maó (recinto del festival)
An intimate, relaxed and crowd-free indie, electronic and pop music festival in a Biosphere Reserve setting. It celebrates its tenth anniversary from 17 to 19 September 2026 in Maó, with side activities on the 16th and 20th. It defines itself as 'small, sustainable and close to the stage', with a line-up mixing international names and local acts such as Kakkmaddafakka, The Blaze (DJ set) and Soleá Morente.

18 September 2026 – 4 October 2026 · Restaurants across Menorca
Seventeen days to eat the island just as the summer eases off. Participating restaurants each serve a set Menorcan menu — traditional or brought up to date — at €29.50 a head, built on local, seasonal produce. Organised by Restauració Menorca and the Fundació Foment del Turisme de Menorca; the list of restaurants and their menus is published on the official site.

19 September 2026 – 20 September 2026 · Cala'n Porter
On the third weekend of September, Cala'n Porter holds its festivities with the riders' qualcada, the handing of the flag to the unmarried caixera and a distinctive jaleo: horses dancing on the beach itself. They have been held since 1974 at the residents' request.

19 September 2026 – 20 September 2026 · Recinto ferial, Es Mercadal
Organised by the Consell Insular, Fira Arrels brings together Menorca's zero-kilometre agri-food produce over a September weekend in Es Mercadal. Cheeses, cured meats, craft beer, ensaïmades, wine and freshly prepared dishes make up an event devoted to the island's authentic flavour.

26 September 2026 – 27 September 2026 · Alaior
On the last weekend of September, Alaior bids farewell to summer with the Es Caixers festival, one of the final equestrian dates of the Menorcan calendar. It keeps the classic structure of the qualcada and the horse jaleo in the old town.

27 September 2026 · Fornells
The island's flagship triathlon returns to Fornells with its half distance (1,900 m swim, 90 km bike, 21.1 km run) and a short version (1,000 m, 34 km, 9 km). The eleventh edition is scheduled for 27 September 2026, with the bay of Fornells as its setting.

27 September 2026 · De Cala Macarella a Son Xoriguer, costa sur
A 10 km open-water swim linking Cala Macarella with Son Xoriguer, passing Turqueta, Es Talaier and Son Saura, some of the south coast's most beautiful coves. Organised by the Menorca Channel Swimming Association, it is traditionally held on the last Sunday of September, falling on 27 September in 2026. Confirm the official programme.

2 October 2026 – 29 December 2026 · Teatre Principal de Maó
Twenty-four productions between 2 October and 29 December, in the year the theatre marks twenty-five since its restoration: music, drama, opera, circus, comedy, puppetry and family matinees. The Orquestra de Cambra de la Illa de Menorca opens on 2 October; along the way, fado from Lina and Marco Mezquida (30 October), the zarzuela «La tabernera del puerto» (13 December) and a symphonic close on the 29th. 9 October 2026 – 11 October 2026 · Monuments and sites across the island
Every October, Menorca joins the European Heritage Days with free guided visits and activities at monuments and archaeological sites, Talayotic Menorca (a World Heritage Site) included. The 2026 European theme is "Heritage at Risk". The island's programme is published in September at agenda.menorca.es; the European framework dates are 9-11 October.

Two October weekends (9-11 and 16-18) devoted to the meat of the vedella vermella, Menorca's native red cattle breed, bound to the landscapes of the Biosphere Reserve, with special menus at participating restaurants. Eighth edition; the list of restaurants is published at gastronomiamenorca.es.

A documentary film and photography festival that fills October with screenings and exhibitions across the island. It awards the Premi Biosfera, tied to Menorca's status as a Biosphere Reserve. 9 October 2026 – 11 October 2026 · Es Migjorn Gran, Alaior y Es Mercadal
The twentieth edition of this non-competitive mountain-bike tour crosses the island over three stages departing from Es Migjorn Gran, Alaior and Es Mercadal, one of them at night. Run entirely by volunteers, it caps participation at 500 riders to protect the landscape. It takes place from 9 to 11 October 2026.

16 October 2026 – 18 October 2026 · Plaça de s'Esplanada, Maó
Every third weekend of October, Maó becomes the epicentre of Mahón-Menorca PDO cheese with a fair of tastings, wine pairings, showcooking by local chefs, workshops and the now-traditional FormatJazz, which pairs jazz with cheese. 2026 dates to be confirmed in the official Ajuntament de Maó programme.

A three-day road cyclotourism event, with a prologue and two stages circling the island in its finest autumn light. The twenty-fifth edition runs from 23 to 25 October 2026. It draws cycling enthusiasts from across Europe onto Menorca's quiet roads.

24 October 2026 · From Son Bou (Alaior) to Cala en Bosc (Ciutadella)
The autumn race along the Camí de Cavalls, now in its eighth edition: a 32 km marathon from Son Bou (9.30am), a 19 km half and an 11 km fun run, all finishing by the sea on Cala en Bosc beach. Organised by Club Esportiu Biosport, with entries via Elitechip. It falls the day after the Volta Cicloturista — a big autumn sports weekend on the island.

1 November 2026 · Plaça d'es Born, Ciutadella
The island's only half marathon covers 21.097 km through the cobbled streets, squares and palaces of Ciutadella's old town, starting from the Plaça d'es Born. The twenty-sixth edition takes place on 1 November 2026, starting at 9.30am from the Plaça des Born, and also features a 10 km race and a fun run on the same day.

6 November 2026 – 15 November 2026 · Participating venues across the island
The third edition of the food weeks celebrating the berenar pagès, Menorca's traditional farmhouse brunch, with local produce at participating venues over two November weekends (6-8 and 13-15). A delicious excuse to discover inland Menorca just as the island settles back into its quiet rhythm.

2 December 2026 – 30 December 2026 · Participating restaurants across the island
Every Wednesday in December (2, 9, 16, 23 and 30), participating restaurants serve menus built around brou, Menorca's traditional broth: the island's signature winter food event, now in its thirteenth edition. Maó's Christmas fair fills the city centre with gift stalls, Christmas goods, crafts and winter gastronomy over the early-December bank-holiday weekend. A warm market to discover local produce in its most festive guise. Dates approximate; confirm with the Ajuntament de Maó.

In December the island belongs to the islanders again, and every town sets up its fira de Nadal: crafts, traditional pastries, decorations, workshops and hot chocolate in the square. They cluster around the first two weekends of December and the days before Christmas; Maó, Ciutadella and Ferreries open the calendar, Es Mercadal, Sant Lluís and Es Migjorn Gran close it. Each town hall publishes its own dates and programme through November — worth confirming before you drive out.

5 January 2026 · Puerto de Maó y Ciutadella (y todos los municipios)
On the evening of 5 January the Three Kings arrive by sea at the port of Maó and parade through the island's towns with floats and troupes. It is the most awaited eve of the Menorcan winter, with parades in Ciutadella and every other town too.

Ciutadella's farmers' market opens all year on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 8:00 to 14:00, in the historic Plaça de la Llibertat. It is the weekly date for the island's local produce: Mahón-Menorca PDO cheese, cured meats, vegetables and honey.

For Sant Antoni, Ciutadella holds its food and craft fair and the distinctive orange-and-date market, a winter tradition that fills the town centre with produce, sweets and craft stalls. Market on 17 January; the full fair programme is to be confirmed with the Ajuntament de Ciutadella.

Menorca's great winter celebration. On 17 January the island marks the Catalan-Aragonese conquest by Alfonso III in 1287, the end of more than three centuries of Andalusi rule. The centrepiece is the 'processó dels Tres Tocs' in Ciutadella's cathedral, when the banner strikes a flagstone three times over a cross of Sant Antoni. Pure identity, far from the summer crowds.

The island's leading jazz festival reaches its 28th edition, spread from February to May. Organised by the Jazz Obert association, it brings international jazz names to venues such as Ciutadella's Teatre des Born. A traditional hunting and rural fair that every February gathers partridge enthusiasts in Es Mercadal, with displays of the finest specimens and decoys. In Menorca, Carnival is known as 'els Darrers Dies', the last days before Lent. In 2026 it runs from Dijous Llarder (12 February) to Darrer Dimarts (17 February), with float-and-troupe parades over the weekend in Ciutadella and Maó, and open-air grills in Es Mercadal and Ciutadella.

Menorca's main agricultural and livestock fair gathers the island's country producers in Alaior over a March weekend. Artisan denomination cheeses, cured meats, traditional pastries, local wines, honey and oil are sold straight from the makers, alongside livestock displays and rural-trade demonstrations.

From Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, the brotherhoods take their processions through Maó, Ciutadella, Ferreries and Es Mercadal. The main day is Good Friday, with the Holy Burial in Maó and Ciutadella (8:30 pm) and in Ferreries and Es Mercadal (9:00 pm).

For nearly three weeks, Menorca presents itself as a contemporary-art destination, with simultaneous openings across galleries, artists' studios and museums. The inaugural gala opens on 7 April at the Teatre Principal de Maó and the programme runs until 25 April. Organised by the Fundació Foment del Turisme de Menorca and the Consell Insular.

Maó becomes the capital of wine with the first major edition of Vi Menorca Fest, bringing the island's twelve wineries onto a route between Plaça d'Espanya and Plaça del Carme. The main day, 2 May, offers tastings, blind tastings and aroma workshops; the festival closes on 3 May with open-day visits to five wineries (booking required).

1 May 2026 – 3 May 2026 · Camí de Cavalls (island-wide)
Menorca's great mountain race, now in its 14th edition, follows the historic Camí de Cavalls (GR-223) that rings the island. It draws around 3,000 runners from dozens of countries across eight distances, from 11 km to the full 185 km loop. The flagship race is a UTMB qualifier. Places usually sell out months in advance.

On 8 May Menorca honours its patroness, the Mare de Déu del Toro, with a pilgrimage to the sanctuary atop Monte Toro, the island's highest point (358 m). The diocesan bishop performs the blessing of the four winds and the four cardinal points.

Ferreries honours Sant Isidre, patron of farmers, with a fair bringing together more than forty exhibitors from Menorca's primary sector. It features livestock and machinery displays, an agri-food market, cooking demonstrations by local chefs, charcuterie and cheese workshops, and the Menorcan Coca contest.

An ocean sailing crossing of around 140 nautical miles (250 km) from Barcelona to Maó, organised by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona and the Club Marítim de Maó. The twenty-seventh edition sets sail on 18 June 2026 and concludes with the Port of Maó Race on the 20th, inside the harbour itself.

On 29 June, the feast of Saint Peter, patron of fishermen, Menorca celebrates its seafaring traditions. In Maó (with events on 27 and 28 June) there is a crossing of the harbour, traditional sailing and the typical 'joc des capellet'; in Fornells the fishermen's guild holds its maritime procession.

1 July 2026 – 7 July 2026 · Vuelta a la isla, salida y llegada en la base naval de Maó
A circumnavigation of the island by patí català (a light sailing catamaran) covering some 85 nautical miles in five stages, from Maó to Fornells, La Vall, Cala Galdana and Cala en Porter. This biennial sporting and cultural event champions sustainable sailing; the tenth edition is expected in early July 2026. Exact dates to be confirmed.

A cycle of dusk concerts in the labyrinthine amphitheatre of the old s'Hostal sandstone quarries run by Líthica, spanning world music, popular traditions, sacred music, flamenco and contemporary creation. Between 2 July and 10 September 2026 it features names such as Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Le Trio Joubran, Ganavya and Rancapino Chico, in a setting where stone, nature and acoustics are part of the experience.

Flamenco singer María Terremoto, from Jerez, opens the Teatre Principal de Maó's summer programme on 2 July with 'Manifiesto', the album honoured with the 2025 Premio Andalucía de la Cultura en Flamenco. Deep-rooted flamenco in Spain's oldest opera house.

The Consell Insular holds an annual contest each year to select the best Mahón-Menorca Protected Designation of Origin cheese, blind-judged by the Regulatory Council's tasting panel. In the 2026 edition, the awards were presented on 3 July in Ferreries within a fair of artisan and agricultural produce, with over 80% of the island's cheesemakers taking part.

The island's longest-running classical music festival, organised by Joventuts Musicals de Maó, devotes its 53rd edition to Spanish classical music under the title 'Nights of Music in the Gardens of Spain', marking the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla's birth. It opens on 3 July with a talk at the Ateneu de Maó and gathers nine concerts between 9 July and 26 August, at 9 pm.

A classical and chamber music festival organised by Joventuts Musicals de Ciutadella, in its 54th edition under the motto 'Música per avançar'. It offers eight concerts between 10 July and 24 August 2026, with the Seminary Cloister as the main stage and the opening at Teatre des Born performed by the Orquestra de Cambra Illa de Menorca (OCIM).

The Menorcan horse — black, tall and unhurried — isn't only for fiesta days: it is also the oldest way to travel this coast. Rides leave Son Àngel through the north of Ciutadella, between dry-stone walls and pine wood, out to the sea at Algaiarens. It goes at a walking pace, in small groups; book ahead.

Menorca's only nature park and the heart of the Biosphere Reserve: a lagoon, three short, level trails and wooden hides from which you can see herons, cormorants, grebes and birds of prey. Autumn and spring migration is when there are most birds and fewest people. The trails are free and start at the visitor centre.

The old bridle path rings the whole island, waymarked as the GR-223 and open on foot year-round. You don't need to do all of it: stage 13, from Cala en Turqueta to Cala Galdana, is 6.4 kilometres through pine wood and ravine linking three of the loveliest coves in the south. Outside July and August you walk in the cool and the car parks have room again.

A black-and-white striped lighthouse on a headland of ribboned black slate that looks like nowhere else on the island, at the northern edge of the s'Albufera des Grau nature park. Car access is restricted in season — in 2026, from 15 May to 31 October — and you get there on the seasonal bus from Maó (route 43, around €3.65 each way); check the year's calendar before setting off. If you only see one lighthouse in Menorca, make it this one.

Built between 1848 and 1875 to seal the mouth of Maó harbour, it is a vast complex of batteries, tunnels and courtyards you can explore on your own with a map, with an audio guide or on a guided tour. The Vickers guns still point out to sea. Allow half a day: it is one of the island's most striking visits and, outside August, one of its quietest.

Menorca's gin is an inheritance of the British century and is still distilled right on the quay, in copper stills more than 250 years old, over a local wood fire, from wine alcohol, juniper and well water from Maó. The guided visit ends in a tasting: gins, artisan liqueurs and pomada — gin with lemonade — which here is not a cocktail off a menu but the drink of the fiestas.

Fornells bay is sheltered from the open sea and sits inside the northern marine reserve: you paddle out from the village to coves and caves reachable only from the water, stopping to snorkel in clear water. No engine, no noise, about three hours. Book ahead; trips run when the sea allows.

Abandoned sandstone quarries turned into a cultural space like no other: stone labyrinths, gardens carved into the rock, an amphitheatre and hand-cut walls rising several storeys. You go down slowly, and almost always alone. Open 9.30am to 2.30pm, plus afternoons in high season; being entirely outdoors, it is a better plan for heat than for rain.

A walled hospital island inside Maó harbour, built in the 18th and 19th centuries to quarantine ships from across the Mediterranean: some 400,000 people passed through it. The guided visit lasts about two and a half hours and leaves by boat from the quay at Cales Fonts, in Es Castell, fifteen minutes beforehand. Book through the Consell's website; everyone needs a ticket, children included.

The llaüt is the traditional boat of these islands: wood, a slow engine and room for very few. Leaving Fornells in one and tracing the north coast — Cavalleria, Binimel·là, the red coves no road reaches — is the calmest way to see Menorca from the water. Menorca has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2023 for its Talayotic culture, and Torre d'en Galmés is the largest prehistoric settlement in the Balearics: more than six hectares of talayots, round houses, a taula precinct and a water system cut into the rock. You walk it without queues and almost always in silence. If that leaves you wanting more, the Naveta des Tudons and Talatí de Dalt are half an hour away by car.

Fish and shellfish straight off the boat, fruit and vegetables from island smallholders, and an arcade where people come as much to greet each other as to buy. It is the living market of the western city and the cheapest way to understand what is eaten here, and when. Go in the morning and have breakfast on the spot.

358 metres, the highest point on Menorca, and from the top you see the island from sea to sea: Maó on one side, Ciutadella on the other, both coasts at once. Up there are the sanctuary of the Mare de Déu del Toro and a terrace for coffee. You drive up a winding road; on a clear autumn day it is the best map of Menorca there is.

Mahón-Menorca cheese carries a Protected Designation of Origin, and it makes far more sense once you have watched it being made. At Subaida you visit the dairy of a working farm and taste the same cheese at several ages: young, semi-cured and cured, one after the other. You leave able to tell an artisan wheel from an industrial one with your eyes shut. Book ahead.

Menorca only started making wine again two decades ago, and today there are a dozen small wineries scattered across the island. Binifadet, in Sant Lluís, is the easiest way in: a tour, a tasting and a terrace among the vines to stay for lunch. From there you carry on to Vinya Sa Cúdia, Binitord or Son Cremat.
