12 October 2026 – 25 October 2026 · Participating restaurants across Formentera
For two weeks in October, participating restaurants serve a menu created for the occasion, inspired by Formentera's traditional cooking and made with local produce, at a fixed price. It's organised by the island's small and medium business association (PIMEF) with the Consell's tourism promotion department, and diners vote for their favourite menus. It's an excellent excuse to sit down to eat once the island belongs again to those who live there. It's worth checking the participating restaurants and booking at each one.

12 October 2026 · Formentera
On 12 October, once the beaches have emptied, Formentera celebrates the Virgen del Pilar. It is one of the festivals that best explains the island out of season: it is held for those who live here, not for those who come to watch.

24 December 2026 · Churches of Formentera (Christmas Eve Matines Mass)
On Christmas Eve, during the Matines Mass, the esquadres de caramellers sing ses Caramelles de Nadal in the island's various churches. These are carols announcing the birth of Christ, traditional music of the Pitiusas declared an intangible Bien de Interés Cultural in 2006. It is not a show for visitors: it is Formentera's Christmas as the island lives it, in its quietest season.

All year round · in season, cars pay to enter the natural park; bicycles go in free · La Savina → ses Illetes (Parc Natural de ses Salines), Formentera
Green route 1 sets off from the port of La Savina and follows the island's salt-making past (the salt pans, the sa Sequi channel, the Molí de Sal) between sabina trees and dunes, to Cavall d'en Borràs and ses Illetes: 3.3 km, a quarter of an hour by bike. The whole route lies within the Parc Natural de ses Salines, where pedestrians and bicycles enter free; cars and motorbikes pay in season (in 2026, from 10 May to 15 October, €5 to €7 per car depending on the fortnight) and are subject to a capacity limit. It's the way to reach the island's best-known beach without hunting for parking. Formentera has 32 signposted green routes, covering more than 100 km, many suitable for cycling.

All year round · in season, at peak times, continue from the car park on foot or by bike · Far des Cap de Barbaria, Formentera
At the island's southern tip, atop a 100-metre cliff, the Barbaria lighthouse is the one featured in Julio Medem's “Sex and Lucía”, and the closest point in the Balearics to the African coast. To protect it, in season the Consell regulates car access: at the busiest times (11 to 13 h and 18 to 22 h, according to its services catalogue) cars park at km 6.5 of the road and continue on foot or by bike, free of charge. In 2026 the restriction ran from 15 May to 15 October; outside those dates and times, access is unrestricted. It's the place for sunset, with es Vedrà on the horizon.

All year round · the cultural space opens Tuesday to Sunday mornings and closes from 1 December to 11 February · Far de la Mola, El Pilar de la Mola, Formentera
At the island's eastern tip, the La Mola lighthouse looks out over a 120-metre cliff, on the plateau that also holds Formentera's highest point, sa Talaiassa (192 m). Since 2019 it has been a cultural space and, since 2026, it has permanently displayed the collection Cati Verdera donated to the island: 56 works by artists linked to Formentera. Next to the lighthouse, a monolith commemorates Jules Verne, who mentioned it in “Hector Servadac”. Turismo de Formentera recommends it at sunrise or sunset.

May to October · Wednesdays and Sundays, 16 to 22 h · Avinguda de la Mola, El Pilar de la Mola, Formentera
Since 1984, on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons, Avinguda de la Mola fills with the stalls of the island's craftspeople: ceramics, wood, silver, stone, shells, glass, jewellery and painting. According to Turismo de Formentera, everything sold is handmade on the island, and the market carries on the hippie spirit of the sixties. In 2025 the Consell awarded it its Gold Medal. There's live music, and the La Mola lighthouse is under three kilometres away to round off the afternoon.

By reservation · trip from 10 to 13 h, minimum 6 people; in winter the base opens Friday to Sunday · Ses Illetes beach → s'Espalmador, Formentera
From its base on ses Illetes beach, White Sands runs a guided three-hour kayaking trip to s'Espalmador, the privately owned islet, open to all, that extends Formentera to the north. It's half an hour of paddling, with a stop for snorkelling over the posidonia meadows, and time to walk to the inner lagoon or stay on the beach; the guide is a marine biologist specialising in posidonia. S'Espalmador is always reached by sea: crossing on foot from es Trucadors is dangerous. Swimming in the lagoon and using its mud is prohibited on the islet.
