Menorca isn’t Ibiza, and that’s the charm of it. Here the night is human-scale: no mega-clubs, no marquee-DJ circuit, but something more our own —a sunset over the cliff, a cocktail by the harbour, a long-standing club on a summer’s small hours—. The party is here, but it’s lived with judgement and without the crowds. And it almost always starts the same way: watching the sun go down.
The sunset, the main event
In Menorca, the first drink is raised to the sun. The undisputed temple is the Cova d’en Xoroi, in Cala’n Porter (Alaior): a natural cave cut into the cliff that by day and at dusk works as a viewpoint and lounge, and by night, in summer, turns into a club. There’s nothing else like it on the island.
The west keeps the best sunsets. Beside the Cap d’Artrutx lighthouse (Ciutadella), the Artrutx Sea Club brings together sea club, restaurant and cocktail bar facing the sea; and on the cliffs of Cala’n Forcat, Coral Menorca —the venue formerly known as Sa Posta de Sol— keeps the western-sunset tradition alive with food and cocktails. In the north, the sunset is watched from the Platges de Fornells (Es Mercadal), at the Isabella Beach Club.
Beach clubs
For a day that stretches into the night, beach clubs are the option most in tune with calm. The most exclusive is Purobeach Menorca, in S’Algar (Sant Lluís): the Puro group’s first beach club on the island, with a pool, sea access, restaurant and its signature music. Alongside it sit the Artrutx Sea Club (west) and the Isabella Beach Club (north), both with good food and even better sunsets.
Harbour cocktail bars
Maó and Ciutadella live facing their harbours, and that’s where the best bars are. In the port of Maó, Vida Una (Moll de Llevant) makes music its backbone —vermouth, wine and cocktails with one of the finest views— and Contrabandu is a craft cocktail bar with a speakeasy feel and a terrace. In Cala Blanca (Ciutadella), Jigger does signature cocktails with a kitchen; and BB Cocktail Bar offers Mediterranean cocktails with a view in Binibèquer Vell (Sant Lluís) and in Maó.
If you’re after a real party
When it’s time to dance until late, the night gathers around the harbours. The port of Ciutadella is the epicentre: Jazzbah, a landmark venue for over twenty years (DJs, themed nights and gigs), and Kopas Club, a multi-floor club with terraces and cocktails. In the port of Maó, the Akelarre Jazz & Dance Club (Moll de Ponent) fills a century-old building with live music and a club. And, again, the Cova d’en Xoroi lights up its club session on summer nights.

Our take
Menorca’s nightlife rewards those who understand it: it isn’t quantity, it’s place and timing. A sunset on the cliff beats ten clubs, and a good cocktail bar by the harbour is a plan in itself. Go out, enjoy, and above all leave the car parked: the best decision on any night out is not having to drive home.
Opening hours, season and capacity change every year, and almost everything is seasonal (summer). Check each venue’s official website or Instagram before you go.
